SCHS to sponsor America 250 Celebration

Please join us in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States on July 4 in Mountain View, Arkansas. A parade will kick off the event at 10am. Best viewed along Main Street, look for our “youthful” versions of George and Martha Washington. After the parade, Stone County Historical Society will host a program on the courthouse stage with emcee Stone County Judge Stacey Avey. The program will include Stone County Honor Guard presenting the colors, Mayor Roger Gardner leading the Pledge of Allegiance, Pam Setser singing the National Anthem and God Bless America, Councilwoman Jessica Sterlin, USAF MSgt Ret., with a Liberty Tree dedication, Robbie Purdom reciting a poem, Mountain View High School band performance, recognition of local families’ patriot ancestors, and a musical rendition by rising 4th graders from Timbo, Rural Special, and Mountain View singing “This Land is Your Land” as directed by music teachers Crystal McCool and Brit Currie. Come and be a part of this fun, patriotic event to celebrate 250 years of independence!
